Difficult Decision

Well it has been 2 weeks since my gravity fail and unfortunately my sprain is not healing as quickly as I’d hoped.  There is soft tissue damage and it’s just sore pretty much all the time.

I managed to run with jogscotland Hazlehead last Monday, but on the Wednesday I just couldn’t manage it.  It’s only one week now till the Great North Run, so I’ve had to think about what I’m going to do.

Have managed to get a physio appointment tomorrow, but it looks increasingly like I will have to defer until next year.  Will do whatever physio advises.  I will how ever still be going to Newcastle, mainly for a girlie weekend away with Fiona 🙂 but also to cheer my friends over the line.

It wasn’t quite what I was hoping for, but to be honest this year has been totally amazing.  Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that I would run a marathon.  What I find even more astonishing was whilst training I managed to smash both my 5k and 10k PBs by 1 and 2 minutes respectively (thanks some brilliant pacing from my awesome friends).

I’m also on target to run more miles in a year than I ever have before.  I know my injury will heal and hopefully I’ll get to run again soon so I can get closer to my original target of 700 miles 🙂

So really, it’s not at all bad.  In hindsight, I should have probably taken more time off after the marathon and perhaps this is my bodys way of letting me know that by forcing me to rest.  I am not going too stir crazy yet, but that may come.

I thought I’d make a pictorial list of some funny and cool things from this year so far:

Lovely tan - on the back of my knees!

I just had to!

The best bit of all from this year has been the support all you guys have given me.  This has enabled me to raise a final total of £2,038 for the Gathimba Edwards Foundation.  I’m so proud to have been able to make such a difference to the kids at the Pavilion Children’s Home 🙂

I have even been able to indulge my other passion, which is singing andgot to perform at the Beach Ballroom and this weekend in Union Terrace Gardens with Aberdeenshire Rock Choir.  Thankfully singing is the only other activity that keeps me sane (ish)!  Looking forward to the new term and learning some new songs.

Day off tomorrow so off to enjoy a glass of G&T courtesy of the Friends of Hazlehead New York Marathon fundraiser at the Ashvale on Friday night.  I actually won a raffle prize 🙂 and hubby doesn’t like gin, so it is all mine 🙂
